On July 14, 2007 , the same day as the Celebration of the Cape , the Bowen Island community celebrated the Gas Station Gallery’s Grand Opening. The grand opening was hosted by the Cape on Bowen Community Development Ltd. Residents gathered at the new art gallery enjoyed a friendly barbecue and live music performed by Vancouver – based bluegrass band, “Whiskeyjar.” Artwork featured that day included the photography of Cindy Hogg and Cape Roger Curtis co-owner, Edwin Lee , as well as the paintings of Mr. Lee’s daughter, Michelle Lee.
The Gas Station Gallery has brought back some activities to this highly visible intersection above Snug Cove. Thanks to a modest vision, a fresh coat of paint and a few weekends of hard work spent tidying the site, the community now has a meeting place to showcase the diverse talents of local artists.
We welcome artists to display their work at the Gas Station Gallery. Opening hours are 12:00-6:00pm, Monday to Sunday.
